Cookie policy
A small, essential cookie jar
Linkshortner uses a limited number of first-party cookies and local storage entries to provide the service. The default configuration does not load third-party advertising or analytics. Optional Google advertising on eligible editorial pages has a separate consent process.
Essential cookies
- ls_session — an opaque session identifier. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, expires after seven days. It connects your browser to server-side account information, a form-security token, and a random journey identifier. It is also used before sign-in to protect form submissions and bind redirect journeys to the browser that started them. The security token and journey identifier are kept on the server, not in separate tracking cookies.
This cookie is needed to sign in, submit forms, or complete links. It does not track you across other websites. The Secure flag is enabled automatically when the site is served over HTTPS, including a correctly configured trusted proxy.
Local storage
ls_cookie_choice records whether you chose essential-only storage or also allowed preferences. It remains in your browser until you clear it or update your choice. If you allow preferences, ls_dashboard_range remembers the analytics range you selected. Optional preferences are removed when you switch back to essential-only storage.
Optional advertising and consent-manager storage
If Google advertising is enabled by the operator, the website loads a configured Google Privacy & messaging consent manager on eligible editorial pages. This is separate from the essential-only/preference choice for the site itself. A usable framework signal is required before an ad request is made; Global Privacy Control suppresses requests.
Google services may use consent records such as FCCDCF or FCNEC and advertising-related cookies such as __gads, __gpi, or __eoi, depending on provider configuration, browser, and the visitor's consent and region. The exact cookies, providers, purposes, and retention periods depend on the published consent message and Google settings. Review the provider message and Google's cookie information for current details. We do not treat the site's preference banner as consent to these advertising purposes.
The integration does not show Google ads on short-link journey pages, private account pages, checkout, or the other excluded screens described in our Advertising & content policy. Use Ad privacy choices on an eligible article to reopen the consent message.
Payment and destination providers
Stripe may use its own security cookies on hosted checkout. External destinations may use cookies according to their own policies after you continue to them. Those cookies are not controlled by Linkshortner.
Managing your choice
Use Cookie settings in the footer to revisit your choice. Your browser can also block or delete cookies; essential account and redirect functions may stop working if required cookies are blocked.
